What is the Advanced Voice Client?
For the past six years, VATSIM has used Roger Wilco® as the client
of choice for voice over IP communications. Because of the lack of support,
updates and features VATSIM has grown to need, the Advanced Voice Client
was developed as a replacement. The AVC was built with the same general
foundation in mind so it is backwards compatible with our current applications
and servers. The new AVC however, offers no limits in future features
and updates.
In the future, the voice library that AVC currently uses will be integrated
into many applications such as Squawkbox
3.0 removing the need for a separate running application, however
until then, AVC will stand in the place of Roger Wilco for online flying.
Several of its features are outlined below but many more are to come!
